How should the Left deal with sexism within its own organisations? This is at the centre of discussion among unionists, feminists and revolutionaries in response to plans by the ALP to expel union leader, John Setka, and the ACTU’s call for him to resign. In the U.S., there’s growing interest in socialist feminism after the recent implosion of the International Socialist Organisation over a cover-up of sexist abuse by their leadership. Many serious, committed activists are grappling with these issues and the broader questions of race, gender, democracy and leadership among Left parties – both in theory and practice. This five-session discussion group will read a series of articles and essays that explore these questions confronting the Left worldwide. Everyone is welcome.
