Join the FSP in standing with L.A. Teachers every day until the strike ends!
January 16 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
An event every day that begins at 7:00am, repeating until January 19, 2019
Monday’s start of the historic L.A. teacher’s strike was exciting even in the pouring rain. From South L.A. to the San Fernando Valley to Hollywood, we joined teachers, parents and students on the picket lines. They were thrilled to have community support! The chanting was spirited and parents were eager to get UTLA flyers with important updates.
Only 1/3 of the LAUSD students reported to school, according to the L.A. Times. The district needs to CLOSE the schools until teacher demands are met! Keeping the schools open is a right-wing tactic to try and break the strike.
All public employees are the last line of defense to keep public services and education accessible and accountable to working people, families and the most vulnerable. The pro-charter (read privatizers) players on the school board know that UTLA educators stand in their way of turning all LAUSD schools into charter schoolville.
To bolster the teacher’s righteous cause, more community support is needed.
Here’s how you can help:
Call LAUSD school board and Beutner EVERY DAY at (213) 241-6389 and tell them to CLOSE the schools until UTLA’s demands are met
