Living Socialist Feminism: The Life and Politics of Clara Fraser

October 29, 2023 @ 1:00 pm PDT

Born 100 years ago, Clara Fraser was a firebrand whose tenacity, clarity and analysis of the world led her to connect socialism and feminism and stand tall as the principled founder of the Freedom Socialist Party and Radical Women. She passed away in 1998, but her legacy continues. Clara was renowned for walking the talk, setting the example with humor, culture and spice. Ahead of her time, Clara taught about intersectionality and the vital role of the revolutionary party in winning socialism. Learn more about the trail Clara blazed, and her contributions that have provided the essential tools for building a movement to win full liberation for women, LGBTQI+, people of color and all workers.

  • Yolanda Alaniz had the privilege of working with Fraser and is co-author of Viva La Raza: A History of Chicano History and Resistance
  • Amy Gray-Schlink is a San Francisco city plumber inspired by Clara Fraser’s revolutionary legacy
  • Poetry by Nellie Wong, acclaimed poet and comrade of Clara.
