In June, workers at the Refresco bottling plant in Wharton, New Jersey, voted to join the United Electrical union (UE). Refresco, one of the largest bottling companies in North America, bottles Pepsi, Arizona Ice Tea, Gatorade and more.
UE Organizer Fernando Ramirez stated, “The shop represents the international working class. Workers from 14 countries — from Asia; North, Central, and South America; and Africa — united and won. The organizing committee, composed of some of the most militant and progressive workers, helped bring it home and beat a vicious anti-union campaign launched by the employer.”
