In April, the Washington Supreme Court sided with a right-wing-sponsored effort to recall Kshama Sawant from the Seattle City Council. The effort hangs on minor infractions, but it’s really about her willingness to tackle Amazon, Jeff Bezos and downtown developers.
In May, she took a plea deal accepting responsibility for the misuse of $1,700 in public funds and repaid twice that amount so that she and Socialist Alternative could focus on fighting the recall effort.
Sawant’s real crime was working successfully to raise the minimum wage and tax Seattle’s largest businesses. She deserves support. Check out kshamasolidarity.org for info on how to help.
