“We are fighting human animals,” said Israel’s defense minister on Oct. 9, when he ordered a complete siege of the Gaza Strip. The blockade and indiscriminate bombing have cut Gazans off from food, medicine, water and power. As of January 11, over 23,000 people have been killed and almost 60,000 injured. Half the inhabitants are slowly starving to death. And 85% have been displaced. The Israeli war on Palestine is a crime against humanity.

Despite this, Biden continues to back Netanyahu’s effort to destroy Gaza. This flies in the face of public opinion and ongoing massive protests opposing this Zionist war.

Appalled by the situation, the South African government filed charges of genocide against Israel at the United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ). They show that statements by Israeli state officials “indicate in and of themselves a clear intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza as a group.” Steeped in its own history of apartheid, South Africa recognizes persecution.

Whether or not the ICJ finds genocide, the United States, Israel’s top ally and arms supplier, is clearly complicit in the destruction of Gaza and its people.

Meanwhile, we who oppose this atrocity cannot rest. Stop the bombings! End the siege! Free Palestine!
