November 2014 — Locked out and ticked off. Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, as chair of the G20 Summit, takes the unprecedented step of excluding labor from the proceedings attended by government and financial heads of the world’s major economies. International union leaders condemn the decision as insulting.


November 2014 — Ebola protection NOW! National Nurses United organizes rallies and marches across the U.S. to demand better safety precautions for those treating Ebola patients. Strikes at 86 Kaiser facilities in California linked Kaiser’s failure to provide adequate Ebola Safeguards to its broad erosion of patient care.

In Progress — Italian rebellion. One million workers and youth march in Rome to protest against pending labor law reforms that would make it easier for companies to fire workers and delay job protections and benefits for new employees. The next act: a one-day general strike in early December.
