FREEDOM SOCIALIST

Job well done

I found your latest issue especially impressive, in its wide coverage of current topics and the many references to their historical contexts.

Even as an avid consumer of leftist media news, I learned a great deal I’ve never heard about anywhere else. So thanks, and keep up the great work.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Changing tides

A lot of people in the middle and even on the right can see the light on how dangerous, non-life affirming, and un-American AI & data centers are [“AI and data centers,” Vol. 47, No. 3]. I sense the tide is changing.

PUBLIC INSURANCE

FS is on to something

Why don’t you tell the government in a petition or letter that it should make home insurance fully public and available to all, cutting out the middlemen to protect working-class homeowners [“US insurance companies prey on victims of climate crisis,” Vol. 47, No. 3] ?

I think you have a good solution there.

CUBA

Criticism needed
The article about Cuba and Trump [“US threatens Cuba’s survival,” Vol. 47, No. 3] overlooks a fundamental point: the bureaucracy confronted the blockade by developing an economic model that served the bureaucratic caste and guaranteed its privileges.

It does not promote a model that serves the workers and the people. The only way to confront the blockade is by democratizing the structure of production, distribution, and consumption, but that would lead to democratizing the political structure.

In order to save what remains of the revolution, Cuba needs the working class and popular bases to organize independently of the government and the bureaucratic regime.

They need to replace the bureaucratic political regime with a working-class and popular political regime.

Defending the Cuban people from Trump and the blockade is the right thing to do. The danger we face is how to do so without aligning ourselves with the political leadership that runs the country undemocratically.

The Cuban working class must fight to oust the bureaucracy and, through unity, organization, and armed mobilization, confront Trumpism and break the blockade.

IRAN WAR

Good analysis

Thank you for this superbly written and insightful article [“The point of Trump’s Iran war,” Vol. 47, No. 3]. I enjoyed reading it and learned a lot.

JEFFREY EPSTEIN

More to be said

Margaret Viggiani’s excellent piece, “Epstein fallout fails the survivors — again” [Vol. 47, No. 2] demands an answer to how Jeffrey Epstein was allowed to pimp girls and women on an industrial scale.

Rhode Island Senator Whitehouse gave a speech entitled “The Trump, Putin and Epstein Triangle,” that answers her question.

Epstein became useful to the intelligence services of Russia, the U.S., and Israel due to his extensive surveillance system used to blackmail the likes of Donald Trump.
