In 2022, Jewish settlers, protected by Israeli soldiers, demolished over a thousand Palestinian homes to steal the land and expand illegal settlements. Israeli attacks and airstrikes killed over 175 Palestinians.
The people are fighting back through protests, general strikes, and armed struggle. Hundreds of thousands have gone on general strikes, closing down shops, schools and government services in Israel, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The lack of confidence in official channels — the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza — has caused various political groups and factions to openly confront Israeli authorities. The Jenin Battalion and the Lions’ Den brigade lead in self-defense actions. They broadcast on social media and get backing. Armed and united, they defeated Israeli forces in Jenin.
In January 2023, the Palestinian flag was banned in Israel. It’s appalling. Yet, every outrage against Palestinians is met by resistance. And, as the World Cup showed, support for Palestine is growing worldwide.
