Fascism is on the rise globally, wealth inequality grows exponentially, and abductions and imprisonments continue to snowball. Racism, transphobia, and sexism work to poison the collective consciousness and attempt to relegate the idea of real social and economic progress to fantasy. Since its first regular issue in 1976, the Freedom Socialist (FS) has been fighting fiercely for the working class, utilizing the Freedom Socialist Party’s socialist feminist platform to uplift and promote the leadership of the most disenfranchised among us to ensure a brighter future for everyone.

Six times per year we cram as many troubling and triumphant news stories as we can into our pages, and make a conscious effort to fill that space with overlooked, commonly misconstrued, or otherwise unsung scoops and tidbits from around the globe. We aim to inspire and educate our readers toward action and optimism with radical analysis, no matter which of the USA’s two capitalist parties is in the White House. As New York City supporter Jim G. says, “The Freedom Socialist newspaper is a reliable source of what John Lewis would call ‘necessary trouble.’ ”

Every dollar you give will go to keeping the lights on and the presses rolling at this revolutionary grassroots publication. Our network of passionate knowledgeable volunteers — many of whom have been with the FS for years — are indispensable. We truly couldn’t produce a paper without them. But they can’t do their amazing work without supplies, postage, ink and computers. Each of these things grows harder to afford with each passing year. Printing and shipping the newspaper is twice as expensive as it was just 10 years ago. And environmental factors have caused the cost of paper to increase exponentially.
The FS is proud of the fact that we’ve been able to bring you our unique perspective for the same subscription price for over 15 years. It is only due to the spectacular support our reader base continues to show that we’re able to keep it so low. Rest assured, every penny collected in this endeavor goes toward necessary materials, wages for our two paid staffers, and maintaining and upgrading FS operations.
With the Trump administration waging a war on allies and enemies alike — including many of us homegrown radicals — the need to take a stand together in fierce defiance is palpable.
