Freedom Socialist Party urges you to support and participate in this social media campaign organized by the National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice to educate and take action on the intersecting issues of reproductive justice and immigrant rights.
Dear friend,
I’m sure you are as disturbed as we in the National Mobilization are about the horrific attacks coming down on immigrants and the appalling, inhumane treatment they are receiving in detention centers. Less well known is how these issues intersect with the issues of bodily autonomy and reproductive justice.
The National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice has developed a social media campaign that brings these points home. We want to encourage reproductive rights defenders to see the battle for immigrant justice as their own fight. And to support immigrant rights activists in addressing the particular issues of parents, pregnant people, children, and disabled and trans people. We also want to celebrate the resistance that is happening all over the country!
The campaign consists of ten images with text that can be posted weekly on social media platforms. The campaign will launch on Sunday, May 10 – Mother’s Day. I urge you to participate in the campaign on your own social media outlets and to ask your organizations, unions and friends to participate as well.
Here is a link to a toolkit with the initial graphics and accompanying text and the dates for their release. You can also share the posts that will appear on the National Mobilization Instagram and Facebook pages. A Tiktok video is even in the works!
Below is a sample of one of the memes and text. We are very grateful to Mobe member Emma S for contributing her artistic skills in creating this and many other of the images.
Thank you so much for participating in this effort. Please contact me with any questions or ideas for the campaign.
In solidarity,
Helen Gilbert

STOP REPRODUCTIVE INJUSTICE! STOP ICE!
19-year-old Olivia, originally from Democratic Republic of the Congo, has been detained at Dilley Immigration center in Texas for over four months. She has lost 20 pounds.
She is separated from her mother and two younger siblings, because she is legally an adult. The shackles she was forced to wear for long periods have left scars on her wrists and ankles. Mental scars include insomnia, nightmares, depression and PTSD.
Immigration officials have urged her to self-deport even though Olivia is legally protected from deportation while her asylum case is being appealed.
