It is very poignant that on this day of international anti-fascist action that we were also remembering those tragically gunned down in two Christchurch mosques by white supremacists.
The Freedom Socialist Party marched with our Radical Women sisters as part of an anti-fascist contingent organised by PUSH: Organising and educating for a united front against fascism. PUSH endorsed the rally called by Stand Together Against Racism. There were lots of moving speakers and Apsara and Jasmine did a great job as rousing co-MCs.
Today, as well as emphasising the need to build a powerful united front, FSP was highlighting the parliamentary enablers of the far right. Given this, we particularly appreciated the speech by Meriki Onus who directly called out the complicity of the ALP on the shameful bipartisan cruelty that sees refugees incarcerated indefinitely on Manus Island and Nauru. The Muslim sisters that she inited up to the stage to speak with her were explicit about the fascist threat and underscored the role played by the war on terrorism and the creeping police state. These women also stressed that Israel is to Palestine as Australia is to the many First Nations.
We’d love to hear from you if you are interested in working with us to build a broad, democratic and disciplined anti-fascist fightback. Call 03-9388-0062 or email freedom.socialist.party@
