Disability Justice: Opportunities and Opportunists

April 2 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm EDT

Come to a special meeting to learn more about organizing for Disability Justice (DJ) and its essential link to building the socialist feminist movement. The presentation will highlight the 10 Principles of Disability Justice—including anti-capitalism—and how to align with them in all spheres of social activism.  Speaker Kendra Scalia will share recent examples of how liberals attempt to co-opt DJ and how to push back against these opportunists.

Kendra is a disabled queer woman, healthcare policy analyst and disability justice organizer. She currently helps lead the fight to raise home care worker wages in NYS alongside disabled and senior individuals and domestic workers, and in coalition with agency providers and unions.
