Freedom Socialist Party meeting
Stolen land and stolen labour: What it will take to stop the plunder by corporate mining giants!
The fall-out from the destruction of Juukan Gorge Caves sparked a burst of outrage that even registered in the corporate world. But the devastation of the oldest known site of human occupation on the continent, and possibly the world, cannot be undone by the departure of a CEO with a golden handshake!
This meeting will discuss how this wanton act of vandalism was not a mistake by a rogue company, it’s how capitalism ticks! We’ll examine the role of extractivism, old and new, from early capitalist accumulation to neoliberalism. And we’ll explore how, when it comes to tackling giants like Rio Tinto, the interests of First Nations and the global working class are inextricably bound together.
Dinner served at 6:30 pm for a $10 donation and meeting at 7 pm
The meeting is at Solidarity Salon, 580 Sydney Road, Brunswick.
