In Tacoma, Washington, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians has been fighting to keep a liquid natural gas (LNG) plant from being built, and going operational, on their historically tribal lands. Serious environmental and safety issues raised by the tribe and other activists have been ignored by city officials and Puget Sound Energy.
Only one permit now blocks the completion of the plant. As the FS goes to press, it is unknown if the last-ditch organizing efforts will be able to finally halt this LNG plant. What is certain is that native people are leading the resistance in the war for environmental sanity.
