Vote Socialist on Tuesday, November 8th
There are no statewide or New York City issues on this year’s ballot. Once again the political establishment is denying voters the power to decide what’s best for our communities.
As described in our election letter, the FSP recommends you write in the Socialist Action (SA) ticket of Jeff Mackler for president and Linda Schraufnagel for vice president.
The FSP also recommends a write-in vote for the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) candidate for U.S. Senate, Jacob Perasso. He is running against Chuck Schumer, the Democratic Party incumbent and Wall Street dealmaker. Perasso, a unionist, opposes police abuse, advocates for abortion rights and calls for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. military forces from the Mideast and North Africa. However, our support is critical. This SWP campaign doesn’t hit hard enough on how capitalism benefits from racism, sexism and homophobia. And, once again, this is a very lackluster SWP electoral campaign as illustrated by minimal street and internet presence. Still, voting for Perasso is a genuine protest against capitalism.
The Green Party is running candidates in New York. Many of these are committed community activists. We think running for office as Greens is a wrong turn because these activists end up sacrificing the single most important thing they can contribute to the electoral conversation—a clear and present socialist critique and identity.
