Confronting tear gas and rubber bullets, protesters of all colors have filled the streets all over the U.S. and the world to say “no more!” to police killings of Black people, and to brutality against demonstrators and militarization of our communities. Black, Latinx and Indigenous peoples were already suffering disproportionate rates of Covid-related illness and death as well as systemic unemployment.
Alongside the coronavirus crisis, in just the last five months cops killed George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Rayshard Brooks and other African Americans. Meanwhile, Asian Americans have faced brutal scapegoating for the virus. Join speakers in a discussion of what it will take to uproot the racist, white supremacist, misogynist underpinnings of this country and create a new normal — a global worker-led society based on equally shared resources.
The leadership of people of color is crucial to winning a different world, and everyone will benefit when the most oppressed rise. We will discuss strategies for building a multi-racial movement to make cops accountable, defund police, nationalize health care, establish public jobs programs, and cancel rents in the here and now.
