Phonebanking – Help Virginia pass a constitutional amendment ensuring abortion rights
Take action in memory of Rosie Jiménez on the 49th anniversary of her death due to passage of the Hyde Amendment ban on federal abortion funding
Put your solidarity into action by informing Virginia voters about Ballot Measure #1, which affirms the rights to “prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, birth control, abortion, miscarriage management, and fertility care.” This state constitutional amendment will also prevent “doctors, nurses, and patients from being punished” for aiding or exercising those rights. And it affirms access to late term abortions “when the patient’s [physical or mental] health is at risk or the pregnancy cannot survive.” It is especially important to protect legal abortion in Virginia, since it is the only Southern state that allows abortion past 12 weeks and for this reason is providing reproductive care to people across the region.
The National Mobilization is sponsoring a phone-banking session that will be led by a representative of Virginians for Reproductive Freedom, which is heading up the campaign. You can participate from anywhere if you have access to a cellphone or a computer with internet and a microphone.
Here’s how it will work: We will gather on Zoom to get briefed on the messaging and how to use the campaign’s phone-banking system. Then we’ll each make calls with numbers provided by the campaign. At the end, we’ll gather again on Zoom to share highlights from the two-hour phoning session. It will be a fun and rewarding exercise of national solidarity!
Saturday, October 3rd at 2pm PDT / 3pm MDT / 4pm CDT / 5pm EDT
Call for two hours
Hosted by the National Mobilization for Reproductive Justice and Virginians for Reproductive Freedom
