The FS welcomes your feedback and opinions … and we mean it! At the end of many of our articles, we encourage readers to send comments to FSnews@socialism.com because we firmly believe that the paper must be a two-way street. Our writers and editors are fully dedicated to the ideas we send into the world and the dialogue that begets.
Oftentimes letters will provide kind words that let our writers know they’ve captured something well or made someone think about a topic in a new way. When that happens, it lets us know we’re on the right track, and our efforts are redoubled toward revealing the truth. Over the course of our work to promote a general strike and a labor party in the U.S., letters to the editor have egged us on and increased our determination.
But, it’s important to us that we receive more than praise and agreement in the letters to the editor section. These letters are valuable tools which help us decipher what we are doing well, but also what could be improved. By hearing your feedback, we are able to maintain high quality content and a consistent, focused analysis.
To this end, we always welcome, and make sure to highlight, input about topics we’ve missed. And, letters to the editor sometimes provide enriching historical context. In June, someone did exactly this in response to Vol. 46 No. 2’s article about surging anti-migrant racism in Germany. When the exchange of knowledge flows freely, horizons are broadened and everyone benefits.
Having a direct window into the thoughts and activities of our reader base only makes us stronger, especially when someone shares news of an activist victory. It’s heartening for all to witness goals achieved in real time.
We highly encourage anyone who’s been moved in any way by our work to take the time to send us a letter or email. Before long, you might see your own name in these pages.
